Poornima grew up in Roseville, Minnesota, where her early experiences sparked a lifelong passion for working with children. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her medical degree from Boston University before returning to Minnesota to complete her pediatric residency at the University of Minnesota. In conjunction with her medical degree, she also earned a Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota, reflecting her strong interest in school-based health programs and global health. She is board-certified in pediatrics and maintains her certification.

With nearly 20 years of experience in pediatric practice, Poornima is dedicated to building lasting relationships with patients and their families. She finds great fulfillment in supporting children through every stage of development, from infancy through adolescence and into early adulthood. She values each family’s unique dynamic and focuses on the individual needs of every patient and family.

Poornima lives in Shoreview, Minnesota, with her husband and two children, and values staying connected with her extended family. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, including running and hiking, as well as gardening, listening to music, reading, and painting. She remains actively involved in child advocacy as a board member of the Minnesota Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the School-Based Health Alliance, and she serves as Clinical Director of the Special Olympics Minnesota Healthy Athletes Program.
